Visiting the dentist is extremely important for several reasons
Many people only go to the dentist when they are in pain. But the dentist is not there just to solve the problem. He or she is also important to make sure that the problem doesn't occur in the first place.
- If you come regularly, we can detect things before they become serious. Caries, gingivitis or something worse. If we spot it early enough, treatment is easier, quicker and cheaper.
- A dentist doesn't just look to see if something is wrong. He also helps to make sure things don't get worse. Cleanings remove tartar that you can't get at home. This can cause inflammation or even tooth loss later.
- The mouth is part of the body. And if something is wrong in the mouth, it can affect other parts of the mouth (the heart, the blood vessels, or even the immune system). Regular check-ups are therefore also part of general health care.
- Health and a beautiful smile go together. Regular dental care and visits can help keep your smile white, clean and natural. And it's good for your self-confidence, too.
- At the check-up, your dentist can show you how to brush better, how to floss, which products to choose... All of this can help you to have better hygiene in the long term.
Visiting the dentist for the first time can be stressful for many people - especially if it's been a while since their last check-up. That's why we make sure that the first check-up is as calm, clear and friendly as possible.
What can you expect?
When you first come to see us, we first listen to how you feel, if there is any pain, when you last saw the dentist and what your preferences are. If you have a fear of procedures, tell us. We are here to reduce it together.
The check is done without rush
We use an intraoral camera to look at the condition of the teeth and gums together. If necessary, we take local X-rays (to better see what's going on under the surface). We look at everything: teeth, gums, bite, any changes, wear, old fillings, etc. We explain and show you everything in detail. Step by step, if you like.
Questions are welcome
If you are unclear or worried about something, just ask. We are happy to explain without technical terms. We can also tell you what the procedure will look like, how long it will take, whether it will hurt and how you will feel afterwards.
What's next, at the end of the review?
At the end of the review:
- get a clear picture of the situation,
- suggest a treatment or care plan,
- decide together how to move forward.
If it is an urgent problem (e.g. pain), we try to treat you as soon as possible, often the same day.
