Children's oral hygiene

Children's oral hygiene at the dentist - gentle, playful and educational

Oral hygiene starts at home, but regular professional care from a dentist is crucial for the healthy development of children's teeth. Regular visits help children get into good habits, prevent major problems and build confidence - without fear.

What do we do in professional baby hygiene?

1. Gentle check-up of teeth and gums
We check the condition of the deciduous or permanent teeth, check for any plaque, early signs of caries and gingivitis.

2. Remove soft plaque and tartar
If necessary, gently clean the tooth surfaces. We use adapted instruments, without pain.

3. Polish your teeth and coat them with a protective gel
Polish your teeth with a soft toothpaste, then apply a fluoride or calcium gel to strengthen the enamel and reduce the risk of cavities.

4. Talk to the child and parents
Demonstrate correct brushing, give advice on diet and dental habits (teething, biting, sweets) and answer any questions.

Why is this important?

  • Preventing early caries

  • Reduce fear of the dentist

  • Teach your child that going to the dentist is a positive thing

  • Reduce the chance of complex interventions in the future

We recommend that you have your children hygienised at least once a year, or more often if they have orthodontic braces or are at higher risk of cavities.
